190 PERSONS HAVE HEPATITIS B & C IN EBONYI

Ebonyi State Government says Hepatitis B and C screening conducted across the state shows that one hundred and ninety persons have contracted the viruses and require urgent medical treatment.

The Acting State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Richard Nnabu, stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council Meeting at Government House Abakaliki.

He pointed out that the State Government had approved the commencement of treatment and vaccination to check the spread of the viruses in the thirteen Local Government Areas and the state capital.

Dr. Nnabu further explained that six hundred and twenty-four women also underwent screening for cervical cancer, of which five hundred and eleven were shown to have the need for further test.

The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji told reporters that members of the State Executive Council were directed to carryout supervision of educational and health facilities and make reports to the state government.

The Executive Council Meeting was the first following the reappointment of some members.
