NSCDC DISLODGES OIL PIPELINE VANDALS IN ABIA, CONFISCATES EQUIPMENT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State Command has seized some petroleum pipeline materials used by suspected oil vandals to siphon petroleum products at Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state.

Conducting journalists round the area, the State Commandant of the corps, Mr. Ayinla Olowo, said that the command would not rest on its oars in the fight against all forms of vandalism of government’s critical assests.

He warned vandals to desist from their evil acts, noting that the command was ever ready to deal decisively with anybody involved in the crime.

The Chairman Ukwa West Local Government Area, Chief Okey Kanu, represented by the Secretary of the council, Mr. Chikezie Nwobia, commended the corps for its efforts towards getting rid of oil vandals.

He pledged that the council would support the corps in the fight against pipeline vandalism in the area.

Items allegedly recovered from the area included five vehicles loaded with oil in jerrycans, suspected to be crude oil; 12 pumping machines, 2 electrical generators and 30 pipes.

Radio Nigeria gathered that no arrest was made as the suspects fled the scene before the arrival of the officers of the corps to the area.
