NMMA AWARD: RADIO NIGERIA’S CHINELO OZOALOR WINS REPORTER OF THE YEAR

The Grand awards presentation of the Nigeria Media Merit Award, NMMA, for 2019 has been held in Lagos with winners emerging in different categories. Chinelo Ozoalor of the FRCN Enugu National Station won the Radio Reporter of the year.  Forty six others also emerged winners out of the four hundred and fifty seven entrants and six hundred and seventy one entries entered in the  fifty one categories advertised.

The  Chairman NMMA Board of Trustees Dr Haroun Al- Rashid Adamu said the award was to recognize and encourage merit in the Media Industry.

He encouraged the Media to work harder especially in this era when a great battle existed between the new and conventional media as well as for editors and heads of media to ensure proper internal process to fact check what was published. The Chairman NMMA Panel of Accessors Prof Ralph Akinfeleye in a speech noted that all awardees got up to the seventy percent cummulative cut off mark but the highest scorer in each category was taken as the winner.

He urged editors and Heads of the Media to do more in ensuring content pluralism as  most entries could not make it to the top because they fell below standard. FRCN Radio one  Lagos won the Radio Station of the year, Channels Television, the Television Station of the year and Punch the Newspaper of the year.
