NIGERIA AT 60: COVID-19 PANDEMIC PREVENTS US FROM CELEBRATING — GOV OBIANO

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, says his administration will continue to implement the economic blue print of the state in a manner that citizens will benefit more from it in the final stage of his administration.

Governor Willie Obiano, who made this known in a statewide broadcast to mark the country’s independence, said the state would observe the 60th independence anniversary of the country without any formal celebration, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He however urged the people to celebrate it with dignity. The Governor noted that his administration would keep close watch on the economic fundamentals and basic pillars sustaining the state.

He maintained that Nigeria had shown more resilience than the world could imagine by surviving the Civil War and other violent crises. Governor Obiano, who expressed joy that Anambra State turned 29 in August, maintained that the state remained the safest in the country with the best network of roads.

He explained that work had commenced in awka city stadium while work on the international conference center was at the last stage.  While wishing the people happy independence celebration, the Governor urged them not to lower their guard against COVID-19 pandemic as the world was yet to recover from it.

The Governor maintained that with the progress of work on the International Airport at Umueri, the state would soon become the hub for logistics and commerce in Nigeria.
