COMMUNAL CLASH: CORPSE OF 53 YEAR OLD MAN FOUND IN AMASIRI RIVER

Police in Ebonyi State have recovered the corpse of a fifty-three year old man from Amasiri River in Afikpo North Local Government Area with heavy stone hung on his neck and his stomach ripped apart.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mrs. Loveth Oda, identified the corpse to be that of one Joseph Isu, who went missing during an attack on Amata Akpoha people at a farmland by suspected members of Ezeke Amasiri community over land and quarry ownership squabble.
A statement by Mrs. Oda explained that the corpse of Mr. Isu was rapped in a body bag while there was gunshot wound in his right leg when police discovered it. According to the statement, the breakthrough followed a search party led by Afikpo Divisional Police Officer following the attack.
The statement noted that three persons were also injured during the incident while the corpse of Mr. Isu had been deposited in a mortuary. The PPRO pointed out that the command had launched full investigation into the murder with a view to prosecuting the perpetrators.
