MAIDEN ABIA GOVERNOR’S UNITY SCHOOLS GAME BEGIN

The maiden edition of the Abia State Governor’s Secondary Schools Unity Games has commenced in Umuahia, the state capital.

Speaking during the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Nwaobilor Analaba, said the event was in line with the vision of present administration to make Abia State a sports destination.

Mr. Analaba explained that the essence of the competition was to groom them into professionals, be useful to themselves and the state.

According to the Commissioner, successful athletes would be sent to Europe for six months to acquire more training.

He thanked Governor Alex Otti for being supportive to the Sports Council.

Contributing, the State Director of Sports, Mr. George Obioma, said already, the schools sports competition at the local government level had been concluded.

Mr. Obioma explained that So far, 850 students from 9 local governments of the 17 local government areas had registered for the competition.
