GOV OTTI GIVES SUPPORT TO REVIVE ALOJI POWER PLANT

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, has pledged to create enabling environment to ensure uninterrupted power supply to boost socioeconomic activities in the state.

Governor Otti made the promise when he visited the Alaoji Power Generating Plant in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area to inspect the facilities on ground.

The Governor, who was accompanied by the Chairman of the firm company, Chief Emeka Offor, said the essence of the visit was to ensure that the remaining eight other local governments, including Umuahia the state capital enjoyed steady power supply having solved the problem of power generation and distribution in Aba through the Geometric Integrated Power Project.

While acknowledging the huge potential the project holds in the economic, social and infrastructural development of the state and the entire country, Governor Otti expressed regret with the inability of the Aloji plant to generate any power due to unavailability of gas by the operators.

He expressed optimism that the challenges would soon be resolved and gave an assurance that his government would do everything possible to ensure the success of the project.

To streamline the implementation process, Governor Otti directed the Local government Chairman of Ugwunagbo LGA, Chief Emeka Ihesiaba, to liaise with the Commissioner for Works, to facilitate the smooth transportation of materials and equipment to the site.
