INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: GIVE MORE PROTECTION IN THE DIGITAL WORLD — NAWOJ VP BEGS

The Vice President, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists,(NAWOJ) South East Zone, Comrade Stella Igboka, has advocated stronger protection for Women in the digital world to give them opportunity to reach their full potential.

Comrade Igboka made the call in her message to Mark the 2023 International Women’s Day Celebration with the Theme “DIGIT ALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.”

The NAWOJ Vice President highlighted the critical role technology and innovation play in advancing the rights of Women and at the same time lamented on it’s risk, which include Cyber harrasment, abuse, bullying and revenge and Porn, which must be legally redressed.

She maintained that technology has already had a significant impact on lives of the citizens and therefore women should queue in and take it as a new avenue for Activism, Organizing, Education and Health Accessibility.

Comrade Igboka, while congratulating Nigerian women on the social, economic, cultural and political feats they have achieved so far, called for more proactive action on gender equality, reproductive rights, violence and abuse against women.

She congratulated women that won various seats in the just concluded National Assembly elections, urging them to see such position as a call for a better representation of all Nigerian Women
