INDEPENDENCE SPEECH: GOV UMAHI BEGS TO LISTEN TO AGGRIEVED YOUTHS

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State says Ndigbo will fare better in a united Nigeria where there is justice, fairness and equity, claiming that the country is coming to a point where the differences impeding the unity of the country will be addressed.

Governor Umahi stated this in a broadcast at Government House Abakaliki to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence celebration and 25th anniversary for the creation of Ebonyi State.

He noted that the 2021 celebration marked an important milestone in the march towards the attainment of the aspirations of the country’s founding fathers and those who fought for the creation of the state in 1996.

Chief Umahi said the South East Governors and the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo were ready to listen to the grievances of youths who had been agitating as the situation had worsened insecurity in the zone.
