Ebonyi State Governor Elect, Chief Francis Nwifuru has described his victory at the poll as well deserved for continuity and consolidation of the brilliant work of Governor David Umahi’s administration.

In his acceptance speech made available to newmen, Chief Nwifuru, who polled 199,131 to defeat other candidates, assured the people of Ebonyi State that his administration would work to meet their needs.

He commended the people the state, Governor Umahi and other stakeholders for electing him as the state Governor.

Chief Nwifuru thanked candidates from other political parties for their efforts to contribute to the development of the state, emphasising that everybody is a winner.

Meanwhile, Governor David Umahi says he will not nominate anyone for appointment in the state Executive Council ahead of the inauguration of the Governor-elect, Chief Francis Nwifuru, despite the barrage of lobbying going on.

Addressing a mammoth crowd that came to celebrate the election victory at Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, Governor Umahi described the journey to the victory as tough as no one gave him and Governor-elect a chance.

He apologized to the former members of Commissions, Boards and Development Centre Coordinators affected by the dissolution as announced by the state government, noting that he took the decision to enable the Governor-elect to study those he would appoint into various positions.

He charged the Governor-elect to search for the best across the state, especially those in the communities who fought for his victory, noting that no one clan can make a Governor unless assisted by the others.

Governor Umahi said there was no part of the state he did not implement projects but decried alleged gang up that he witnessed following the emergence of Chief Nwifuru.

He said he would send a draft bill for Charter of Equity to be enacted by the State House of Assembly to stabilize the states polity.
