GUNMEN ASSASSINATE EBONYI TRADITIONAL RULER

The Chairman Ezzaa Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Igboke Ewa, has been shot dead in his palace in Umuezekoha Community in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

A statement by Ebonyi State Government signed by the Commissioner for Information, Chief Uchenna Orji, confirming the incident, claimed that he was assassinated by suspected political thugs for not supporting a particular political party.

The statement noted that Governor David Umahi was worried about the ugly development and had directed security agencies to arrest anyone involved in the killing.

It further urged security agencies to embark on rescue mission in Ezza North and appealed to leaders of the state and candidates who were not comfortable with the outcome of the Elections to petition the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rather than resorting to violence.

The statement quoted Governor Umahi as saying that he would hold anyone doing press conference or social media publication to incite people responsible for any outbreak of crisis in the state.
