GLOWING TRIBUTES AS ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY HOLDS VALEDICTORY SESSION FOR FORMER SPEAKER, NNEBE

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has described the late former speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Anayo Nnebe as a bridge builder and humane politician, who contributed to the growth of the state.

The governor stated this during a Special Valedictory Session held in honour of the fallen Speaker by the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka, the state capital.

Radio Nigeria observed that present and past lawmakers, as well as a former Governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi took turns to pay tribute to the deceased who also represented Awka North and South Federal constituency in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019.

The late Nnebe, who passed away on January 23, 2024 at 61years, also served as the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Legislative and Assembly Matters before his demise.

Governor Souldo, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, extended condolences to the deceased family while praising Chief Nnebe’s humility, which he said the state would miss.

In his tribute, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, described late Anayo Nnebe as a prominent figure whose legacies would endure, highlighting his leadership qualities and contributions to society.

Mr. Udeze prayed God to strengthen and console the bereaved family.

For his part, a Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, commended the impactful life and collaborative spirit the deceased had with the executive, urging the family to find solace in his legacy.

The late Nnebe was the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly during the eight year reign of Mr. Peter Obi as Governor of Anambra State, which witnessed political upheavals.

In their tributes, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Chukwuma Okoye; Mr. Henry Mbachu, representing Awka South Constituency One; and Mr. Ejike Okechukwu from Anaocha Constituency II, who hailed the contributions of the late speaker, described him as a political stalwart with a sound political record.

Members of the National Assembly, whose speech delivered by the member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, Mr. Emeka Idu, recognized Chief Nnebe as a visionary leader, emphasizing his legacy of peace and compassion.

In a speech, the son of the deceased, Mr. Kanayo Nnebe, thanked dignitaries for honouring his father’s memory.
