The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, says it will not relent in collaborating with officers of the Nigeria Police to restrict vehicular movement in the area for Saturday’s governorship election.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Anambra State, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, who stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka, explained that measures were being put in place to achieve a hitch-free vehicular movement.

According to the Sector Commander, the Corps Operatives drafted to cover the election have equally been mandated to clear obstructions from the roads, carry out rescue operations in case of emergencies, maintain orderliness in polling booths, and the certification of INEC vehicles that will be used to convey electoral materials.

Mr. Irelewuyi said that the Corps was also collaborating with other security agencies to ensure sanity on the nation’s highways throughout the election period.

He warned that those violating traffic rules and regulations would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The Sector Commander also warned motorists and other road users on political campaign movements to stop dangerous driving and other unsafe acts that put their lives at risk.

The FRSC boss however admonished motorists on election duty to abide by road safety culture as well as respect authorities on the highway.
