FAMILY OF MURDERED MOTHER OF TWO IN ANAMBRA CRIES FOR JUSTICE

The family of late Mrs. Uzoamaka Ekpe has called for justice over the murder of their mother by their landlord son.
The alleged act was committed in their residence at 5A Ugochukwu Lane, Nkpor, Anambra State.
The suspect allegedly murdered the deceased, a mother of four, following a misunderstanding between the two, which later led to a fight.
Narrating her ordeal in a viral video, the daughter of the deceased, Miss Mmesoma Ekpe, said her mother was beaten to death by the second son of their landlord in their residence on Saturday.
According to Miss Ekpe, an indigene of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of the State, trouble ensued following sudden declaration of sanitation for all tenants living in the compound by the landlord’s son.
She said the announcement came to them as surprise since there was a monthly levy for the cleaning of the compound by all tenants.
Miss Ekpe recounted that around 9am when her younger sister headed downstairs to go to her work place, she was stopped by the landlord’s second son, who insisted she must go and clean the staircase, despite opening the gate for others to go out.
The situation caused exchange of words between them and the landlord’s son, leading to their mother coming down to intervene.
It was then that the landlord’s son, used the gate to break her teeth and gave her a blow on her chest, leading to her collapse.
The mother of four was quickly rushed to hospital where she was declared dead.
Miss Ekpe, who said her mother hailed from Isuochi in Abia State and married to Enugwu Ukwu man described her as the bread winner of their family.
She therefore appealed to concerned individuals, security agencies and the government to assist them to get them justice.
She also called for help to enable them to relocate to another residence as the environment was no longer safe for them.
The President General of Enugwu Ukwu, Comrade Bonny Nkwuaku, has called for calm, patience and understanding on the matter.
Mr. Nkwuaku confirmed that the corpse had been deposited at Bekee Hospital Nimo and assured that the Enugwu Ukwu community was working to ensure that justice prevailed.
Meanwhile the suspect, Ebube Oba, has been arrested by the police command in Anambra State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, told Radio Nigeria that the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigation had been concluded.
