EID-EL-FITR: MUSLIM LEADERS SUE FOR TOLERANCE AMONG RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC GROUPS

Moslem leaders in Anambra State have called for peace and tolerance among members of various religious and ethnic groups to enhance national unity and development.

They made the call, while speaking with journalists after the Sallah prayers at the Awka Central Mosque.

One of the Moslem leaders and Sarikin Hausawa of Awka, Alhaji Garba Haruna, described Ramadan as a blessed month of prayers, during which the faithful interceded to end the security crisis in the country.

Alhaji Haruna asserted that Christianity and Islam were religions of peace, and charged those promoting terrorism, secession and killings to channel their energies into productive ventures.

He urged all aggrieved individuals and groups to engage the Federal Government to create a platform for resolving the socio- political crisis in the country.

The Chairman of Amansea-Awka Cattle Market, Alhay Bello Maigari, explained that the fast they performed, was one of the major foundations of Islam, and urged the faithful to embrace peaceful ideals.

A Moslem Mother, Mrs. Mulikat Abdulrahman, expressed happiness with Allah for the grace offered to enable them to conclude the Ramadan.

She enjoined christians and members of other faith to join moslems in celebrating the feast to promote peaceful co-existence.
