EBONYI STATE GOVT HOLDS CITIZENS’ CONSULTATION FOR 2022 BUDGET

Ebonyi State Government is to present over one hundred and forty eight billion Naira before the State House of Assembly as its 2022 budget estimate.

Governor David Umahi made this known during Citizens’ Input and Consultation for the Budget held at Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki.

The 2022 Budget Estimate of one hundred and forty eight billion, six hundred and fifty million, six hundred and fifty-eight thousand, eight hundred and seven Naira, forty one kobo has an increase of twenty one percent from 2021 Budget approval of over one hundred and twenty two billion Naira.

The proposal for Capital Expenditure was Ninety nine point five-five-one billion Naira while the Recurrent Expenditure was projected at Forty nine-point-nine-eight billion Naira.

Governor Umahi explained that Ten Billion Naira was proposed in the budget estimate for the construction of sixty-five kilometres of roads, emphasising that his administration would increase tuition fee in the state university (EBSU) and block leakages in revenue generation.

The Commissioner for Finance in the State, Mr. Orlando Nweze, had, while breaking down the budget estimate, explained that it would be funded with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR$ and allocations from the Federation Account as well as commercialization of some of the state’s assets.

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress in the State, Comrade Leonard Nka, said the organised Labour was pleased with the capturing of payment of gratuity and other worker friendly proposals in the Budget.
