EBONYI NYSC CAMP IN DEPLORABLE CONDITION & NEEDS FIXING — BOARD CHAIRMAN

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

The National Governing Board, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
has expressed worry over the deplorable condition of the Permanent Orientation Camp, Old Macgregor College Afikpo in Ebonyi State.

The Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Fatima Abubakar, made the observation when she led other officials to supervise the Camp.

Mrs. Abubakar noted that the camp was facing infrastructural deficit but assured that the Board would interface with relevant authorities to ensure that areas of need were tackled.

The State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Bamai Mercy, enumerated challenges confronting the scheme.

They include absence of the state NYSC Governing Board, lack of electricity and stoppage of construction work at the parade ground as well as Lecture hall.

Mrs. Abubakar later visited Governor David Umahi at Government House Abakaliki where she solicited the support of the government to make the camp more conducive.

Governor Umahi, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, said the state government was committed towards ensuring that corps members posted to the state served their father land in a dignified manner.
