Governor David Umahi gave the order at the end of an Emergency Security meeting at Government House Abakaliki.

The Governor explained that the decision was to check the activities of bandits who had attacked the state in the last three days resulting in the killing of two soldiers, a police officer and a civilian.

He gave security agencies a marching order to fish out the attackers within seventy-two hours and to enforce the curfew to check the movement of criminal elements.

Chief Umahi ordered native doctors to register with the Ministry of Internal security and the Commissioner of Police while all social events must end before six o’clock in the evening henceforth.

The Governor presented eighty million Naira to the people of Egedege in Ishielu Local Government Area and Mgbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area as compensation and for the establishment of a vigilance group following deadly attacks by suspected herdsmen in the areas.
