Members of the Owerri Archdiocesan Catholic Women Organization (CWO) have embarked on a prayer procession to seek the release of the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese, the Most Reverend Moses Chikwe and his driver Mr. Robert Ndubuisi.

The women took the procession to the Government House Owerri with some carrying placards with inscriptions: “This is a sacrilege,” “Release the Lord’s anointed” and “Please set our Bishop free” while offering prayers.

Speaking with journalists at the entrance gate of the Government House Owerri, the Secretary of the Catholic Women Organization, Mrs. Irene Mba, said they were worried about the safety of the bishop and his driver.

She explained that they were in the Government House to urge the state government and security agencies to do everything within their means to secure the release of the duo.

Mrs. Mba said four days after the abduction of the Bishop and his driver, no word has been heard from either the abductors or the victims and prayed for God’s intervention in the worrisome situation.

The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Security, Mr. Dan Okoro, who addressed the women on behalf of the Governor, expressed sadness about the abduction, noting that government was working closely with security agencies to ensure the rescue of the Bishop and his driver.

The procession caused vehicular traffic at the ever busy Wetheral Road Owerri as the women came out in their numbers for the procession.

The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese, the Most Reverend Moses Chikwe and his driver, Mr. Robert Ndubuisi were kidnapped on Sunday December 30, 2020 while returning from a church function.
