COVID-19: EBONYI STATE BANS COMMERCIAL MOTORCYCLES, ORDERS ARREST OF PEOPLE WITHOUT FACE MASKS

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has banned the movement of commercial motorcycles in the state for compromising the ban on movement of inter-state passengers issued to check Coronavirus spread.

Reacting to a report that some commercial motorcycle operators were smuggling passengers from Enugu boundary axis into the state, Governor Umahi directed security agencies to impound any commercial motorcycle found on the road in any part of the state.

He also ordered members of the state committee on coronavirus to auction any vehicle impounded for contravening the ban on movement of passengers, pointing out that stringent measures were required to protect the state.

Governor Umahi also called for the arrest and prosecution of anyone found in the public without wearing face mask, noting that eight hundred thousand of such masks were being produced by the state government and would soon be distributed.
