CONSTITUTION REVIEW: IMO/ABIA STATES COMMITTEE RECEIVES 48 MEMORANDA — SEN OUK

The Chairman of the Senate Public Hearing on Constitution Review for Imo and Abia States, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK), said the committee received a total of forty-eight memoranda from participants for consideration by the National Assembly.

Senator Kalu made this known while speaking with Journalists at the end of the two day exercise held in Owerri.

He assured the people that the committee would transmit their recommendations to the National Assembly for more legislative action.

More groups had on the second day of the hearing canvased a constitution amendment that would encourage women with disabilities to participate more actively in governance.

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization “Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide” had through its President General, Professor George Obiozor, said it was more interested in equity, fair play and justice for all Nigerians.

He added that an internal autonomy through a restructured Nigeria would provide a solution to some of the challenges facing the nation.
