The Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, the Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim ,has urged christians to use the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to strengthen their faith in God. The Most Reverend Ibezim who is the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, stated this in his Easter message.

He said the coincidence of the surge in the global pandemic with the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was enough reason for the faithful to genuinely approach God for the forgiveness of their sins.

The Archbishop stressed that though, COVID-19 had changed the mode of religious worship due to social distancing, the resurrection of Christ still had the same message of hope, life and beautiful future for the citizens.

He expressed happiness over global united action aimed at curtailing the spread of the virus. The Most Reverend Ibezim charged political leaders across the globe, especially in Nigeria, to provide easy access to medicare at this period and ensure transparent management of stimulus packages for citizens.

He commended medical workers who put themselves at risk to ensure the treatment of patients and urged those undergoing pains due to decisions taken to control the virus to be strengthened as it was in the best interest of all.
