EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT INCREASES FUND FOR COVID-19 PALLIATIVES TO 1.5BN

Ebonyi State Government has increased its funding for the provision of palliatives from one billion Naira to one point-five billion Naira.

Governor David Umahi in a live broadcast at New Government House Abakaliki explained that the money would be used for the production of rice and other needs.

He emphasized that the State Government targeted four hundred thousand families to benefit from the palliatives and expressed regret that Ebonyi was the only state in the country not included in the Federal Government’s palliatives.

Although the Governor exonerated the Federal Government from the exclusion, he said efforts were on to ensure that eight hundred and fifty-five thousand persons from one hundred and seventy-one wards across party lines in the state benefited from the palliatives.

According to Governor Umahi, three truck loads of rice and gallons of groundnut oil have been sent by the Federal Government and will soon arrive in the state for distribution.
