COVID-19 PALLIATIVE: IMO STATE GOVERNMENT DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO 27 LGAs

Imo State Government has distributed food stuff to twenty-seven local government areas in the state as part of palliative measures to reduce hunger in the midst of Coronavirus pandemic

The items distributed were bags of rice, noodles, yam tubers, vegetable oil, tin tomatoes, cartons of soft drinks, table water and cash. The State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodinma, while handing over the items to Interim Management Committee Chairmen of the councils urged them to ensure that the items got to the less privileged persons at the communities.

Governor Uzodinma thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigeria Customs Service and other donor agencies for their support in the fight against COVID-19 in the state.

Responding, the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Owerri West, Mr. Willie Okolieogwu, assured that the items would be distributed in line with the government’s directive.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Interim Management Committee Chairmen of Orlu and Ohaji Egbema Local Government Areas also promised to be transparent and accountable during the distribution.

Governor Uzodinma used the event to thank the people of Imo State for their love and understanding, especially this Easter period.
