ALLEGED HOMICIDE: SOLUDO SUSPENDS TC CHAIRMAN

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has suspended the newly appointed Transition Committee Chairman, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mr. Mbazulike Iloka.

The suspension was contained in a statement signed by the State Commisioner of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne.

According to the statement, the suspension followed the circumstances leading to the death of the Chairman’s wife, Mrs. Chidiebere Iloka, few days after his swearing in as the TC Chairman.

The statement pointed out that there had been a public outcry over the circumstances leading to the cause of her death, including alleged possible homicide.

It urged Mr. Iloka to step aside to allow unfettered investigation and justice, though acknowledging he is presumed innocent until the completion of investigations.

The statement directed Mr. Iloka to hand over the affairs of the local government to the Head Local Government Administration in the council not later than August 12, 2022 until further notice.
