Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has inaugurated the Abia State Steering Team for Nationwide Youth Engagement Meetings.

Inaugurating the committee at Government House Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu charged them to establish Accessible, Credible Structure and Sustainable Platforms of engagement that would give youths from local communities the room to ventilate ideas for state based positions in Zonal and National discourse.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Mr. Ude Oko chukwu, urged the Committee to integrate and gainfully engage the youth in skills for participatory governance.

This they can do by contributing to broad thematic areas and issues that require attention, including Wealth Creation, Social SafetyNet, Employment, Education, Youth Development and Security.

The Governor said that the inauguration of the Committee was as a result of the fall out of the #EndSARS protest as government deemed it wise and agreed that youths should be galvanised to enable them to get involved in national discourse.

Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Chief Chinenye Nwaogu, represented by the Director General, Abia State Mass Mobilization Agency, Mr. Paddy Anyatonwu, assured the state government that having been aware of the task ahead, they were going to do their best to make the state proud.
