ABIA GOVT TO ESTABLISH 3 TUITION-FREE SKILLS ACQUISITION SCHOOLS

Abia State Government is to establish tuition-free schools for skills acquisition in the three Senatorial zones of the state.

The tuition-free skills acquisition schools will focus on solar power assembly and Installation; POP designing and installation; painting; measuring; tiling, among others.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, announced this to journalists at the government house after this weeks Executive Council Meeting.

The Commissioner noted that the skills acquisition schools were part of the effort of the government to empower citizens with practical skills to ensure self-reliance.

He explained that after the training, participants would be provided with financial support to make them self employed, stressing that such measure would also strengthen the economic growth of the state.

Prince Kanu announced the suspension of the month of February Environmental Sanitation in the state following the forthcoming inauguration a Power plant in Aba.

He also announced the ban on one-way traffic across the state and warned against driving against traffic as such was a serious offense.

Throwing more lights on Power generation and distribution, the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Mr. Monday Ikechukwu, said that the overall interest of the state government was to ensure steady and affordable power supply for industrialization and economic transformation of the state.

Mr. Ikechukwu expressed the hope that other power distribution company would be operating in the state to enable the residents enjoy their services without grudge.
