2023 CENSUS: NPC SOLICITS SUPPORT OF SECURITY AGENCIES IN IMO

REPORTER: UGONNA AGU

The Federal Commissioner representing Imo State in the National Population Commission (NPC), Prof. Uba Nnabue, has called on the Imo State Police Command and other security agencies to partner the Commission for a successful, reliable, and digital census.

Prof. Nnabue made the call while speaking with journalists in Owerri.

The Federal Commissioner, while applauding the security agencies for providing security during the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD), which spanned over three years, and the just concluded Trial Census, called for better synergy between the commission and the agencies.

“Census is a community based programme, a people oriented program and without the corporation of the security agents, this programme will not succeed.

“We therefore call on all the security agents to continue to support our commission,” the NPC Commissioner appealed.

Professor Nnabue also appealed to security agencies to establish a desk office in the Command to interface with the Commission to ensure success of census in Imo State come 2023.

According to the NPC Federal Commissioner, a properly organised digital census will help Nigeria have a proper economic developmental planning.
