OIL RICH COMMUNITIES IN IMO GET 19 NEW TRANSFORMERS

The Imo State Government has donated 19 transformers to communities at Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas to boost power supply to the oil bearing communities of the state.

Handing over the transformers to officials of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Mark Uchendu, said the gesture was part of efforts to ensure that electricity got to every community in the state.

Chief Uchendu, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Dr. Eli Dibia, urged benefitting communities to protect the facility to ensure maximum utilization of the transformers in line with the standards of the electricity distribution company.

He urged ISOPADEC officials to ensure that the facility got to the people they were meant for.

Chief Uchendu charged the people of the benefitting communities to reciprocate the gesture by maintaining peaceful disposition before during and after elections.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a Commissioner in charge of Community and Youths in ISOPADEC Owerri, Mr. John Uba, noted that lack of electricity supply had affected social and economic activities in the areas.
