COUNTING OF VOTES IN IMO STATE IN PROGRESS

Sorting and counting of ballots cast are in progress following the conclusion of voting in most polling units across Imo state.
Although elections did not commence by eight o’clock in the morning as scheduled the exercise ended before three in the afternoon in many centres.
Radio Nigeria captured counting of ballots at Owerri Municipal Council, Orlu and some parts of Owerri Municipal Council.
The process has been generally peaceful as no case of ballot paper destruction has been recorded.
Apart from areas like Eziobodo in Owerri West LGA and few polling units in Ngor Okpala LGA where cases of ballot box snatching were witnessed the elections have been adjudged peaceful.
There was low turn out of voters as confirmed by some polling officers,
Unused ballot papers were sighted been canceled by presiding officers in the presence of party agents and election observers.
