IMO LAWMAKERS DEMAND IMMEDIATE REPAIRS OF DILAPIDATED STATE ROADS

The Imo State House of Assembly has urged the State Government to immediately commence rehabilitation of critical roads within the state to reduce accidents.

This followed a motion moved by the representative of Njaba Constituency, Mrs. Uju Onwudiwe, during a plenary in Owerri.

The lawmaker noted that most roads in Owerri, the state capital were in deplorable condition, thereby causing gridlock and economic loss.

Mrs. Onwudiwe appealed to the executive to urgently fix the abandoned Njaba River Bridge at Njaba Local Government Area of the state, which she said had continued to claim lives.

The representative of Ideato North Constituency, Chief Arthur Egwim, raised an alarm over threats posed by flooding in the state and called for palliative measures to save the roads from total collapse.

Meanwhile, a bill for the regulation of estate management sponsored by Chief Arthur Egwim passed second reading.
