YOU LEFT US WITH HUGE DEBTS & NO MONEY — OTTI’S AIDE REPLIES IKPEAZU

Abia State Government says the claim of alleged twenty four billion naira left by the immediate past Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration is false.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Finance, Mr. Mike Akpara, made this to known while briefing journalists at the Government House, Umuahia on the issues of several billions of Naira allegedly left for the present administration in the state.

Mr. Akpara explained that the 200 million Dollars and 50 million Dollars the past administration claimed it left for the new administration were loans yet to crystalize.

He maintained that apart from the humongous financial liabilities left behind by the immediate past government, the administration also left physical liabilities in all key institutions of Abia State Government including, the University Teaching Hospital and the Abia Polytechnic.

While giving the summary of Abia State Government balances with different banks as at May 28 this year including; loan balance, Salaries, subvention arrears, pension and gratuity arrears
and contractors arrears as well as domestic debts arrears, Mr. Akpara regretted the alleged huge debts the immediate past administration left behind.

He appealed to Abia workers and pensioners to be calm as their salaries and pensions remained sacrosant.
