VERIFY REPORTS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA— UZODIMMA TELLS GUILD OF EDITORS

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State wants Nigerians to always verify reports from the social media to avoid being purveyors of fake news.

He gave the advice while reeling out the achievements of his administration at the ongoing Nigeria Guild of Editors Conference in Owerri.

Governor Uzodimma extolled the role of the media in nation building but urged journalists to always cross-check their information before dissemination to check incidences of fake news.

Governor Uzodimma explained that he had plugged financial leakages, embarked on massive infrastructural development and tackled insecurity in the state.

He urged commuters plying Owerri-Umuahia road to endure the traffic witnessed due to reconstruction of the road and gave an assurance that the project would be completed on schedule.

The President, Nigeria Guild of Editors Mr. Mustapha Isah commended the Governor for his support to the body and said the members would embark on a tour of the state to verify projects executed by the Imo state government.

The Conference is being attended by members of the Guild across media establishments in the country among whom is the Director news Husseina Banshika.
