The Imo State Government has appealed

the Federal Government to strengthen the amnesty programme of the Niger Delta to enable the people, particularly the youth, to get involved in the programme.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made the appeal when he received the Minister of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Abubakar Momoh, at the Government House, Owerri.

The Governor called for a comprehensive audit of all abandoned projects that litter the nooks and crannies of states that make up the NDDC.

He requested the Minister to compile all the federal allocations meant for the region and deploy them appropriately to ensure the region is fully represented in terms of infrastructure.

Governor Uzodimma called on youths of the Niger Delta region to desist from vandalising NDDC and other federal government assets in the region and promised to assist the commission to achieve the desired goals.

Earlier in his speech, the Minister of Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr. Abubakar Momoh, stated that the visit was to inspect ongoing projects of the Ministry of Niger Delta Development area and to solicit greater partnership and cooperation of the Governors of the nine states of the region.

Mr. Momoh acknowledged the existence of many challenges, especially abandoned projects and promised that his Ministry and the Commission were on course to change the narrative.

The Minister was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary and Directors in the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
