SAVE YOUR CHILDREN FROM PAEDOPHILE: MIDWIFE ADVISES PARENTS
A community health specialist, Mrs. Lois Okeke-Mbachi, has called on parents to guard against activities of a paedophile within their domain, especially this holiday.
Mrs. Okeke-Mbachi, who is a midwife at Enugwu- Ukwu General Hospital in Anambra State, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria.
Mrs. Okeke-Mbachi described paedophile as a “psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary sexual attraction to prepubescent children.”
She said that any adult could turn into child molester as there was no particular features, appearance, profession or personality type shared by paedophiles.
The midwife emphasized that most child molesters were known to the children they abused as family members, relatives or friends.
She expressed regret that some mothers teach their young children how to keep themselves safe from community and other social issues but failed to teach them their body safety and sex education.
The community health specialist advised parents to explain to their children in clear language that no one should touch their private parts and that no one should ask them to touch somebody else’s private parts.
She urged parents to discourage sleepover act or sending children to homes they were not sure of their stability.
