POLICE SHOT DEAD 2 ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS, ARREST 4 OTHERS IN ANAMBRA

The Police Command in Anambra State says it has neutralized two armed robbers, arrested four suspects and recovered two pistols, five live cartridges as well as a tricycle in a breakthrough.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, on December 5, 2021, police operatives intercepted a three-man armed robbery gang operating around Idemili flyover, Obosi by Onitsha-Owerri Road.

It explained that the hoodlums who were about to rob passengers travelling in a Toyota Sienna mini van opened fire on sighting the police.

The operatives responded swiftly, gunning down two armed suspects, later identified as Chinedu Okeri from Enugu and Chukwuebuka Orizu from Anambra State while the third suspect, Abuchi Osim from Enugu State was arrested.

The Police recovered two locally made Pistols, five cartridges and the tricycle that brought the gangsters to scene of crime.

The statement noted that in a follow up operation, the arrested suspects led the operatives to their criminal hideout in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area where 21 year old Chinedu Ogunna, 16 year old Arinze Chukwu and Ebuka 18 year old Ayazie were arrested.

They claimed to be members of the same cult and armed robbery gang.

Meanwhile, the statement indicated that the Commissioner of Police Anambra Command, Mr. Echeng Echeng, had assured that the Command, which had since rejigged his policing strategy to respond to any emergence during and after the coming yuletide celebration.

He therefore enjoined law-abiding residents of the state to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with credible information in the fight against acts of crime and criminality in the State.
