POLICE PARADE 29 CRIMINAL SUSPECTS IN IMO

REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

The Imo State Police Command says it has adopted a lot of security measures to ensure a crime-free yuletide in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Mr. Rabiu Hussaini, stated this while parading 29 persons who were recently arrested for their alleged roles in kidnapping, robbery and child trafficking in the state.

He said the measures included intelligence-led stop and search, increased visibility policing, deployment of plain clothes policemen to black spots and emphasis on community policing, among others.

Mr. Hussaini said the Command was working with Hunters Association in the state to ensure that the bushes were not used as hideouts for criminals and appealed to residents of the state to sustain their cooperation with the force.

Some of the suspects who confessed their roles in the kidnap of a catholic priest described their action as the handiwork of the devil and prayed for forgiveness.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects by the Police included 13 firearms, 89 ammunition of different calibers and 9 vehicles.
