POLICE APPREHEND 2 SUSPECTED KILLERS OF GOV OBIANO’S SECURITY AIDE

The police command in Anambra State has apprehended two principal suspects for the alleged murder of Mr. Azubuike Ekwegbalu, who was one of the security aids to Governor Willie Obiano.

The suspects are 21 year old John Osita from Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State but resides in Agu Awka; and 27 year old Achewa Musa, from Guma Local Government Area of Benue State but resides in Gariki Amansea.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) of the Command, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, says the arrest of the suspects followed intensive investigation by detectives of the command.

The statement explains that the suspects confessed to have scaled the fence of the deceased house and stabbed him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets.

Meanwhile, exhibits allegedly recovered from them, includes the two Android phones belonging to the late victim and one knife allegedly used in perpetrating the heinous act.

The statement adds that the suspects were arraigned in court on Tuesday November 10, 2020 and thereafter remanded in prison custody.

The 43 year old Azubuike Ekwegbalu, who hailed from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, was allegedly murdered inside his residence at the Commissioners Quarters, Awka on August 9, 2020, at about 1:30am.
