Anambra State Government has expressed unhappiness with an alleged plan to scuttle the proposed inauguration of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport Umueri, scheduled to hold on Friday, October 29, 2021.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, stated this while briefing journalists in Awka, said it was believed to be politically motivated.

Mr. Adinuba explained that he was informed that they cited insecurity as reason for the cancellation.

The Commissioner, who further revealed that the governor was already discussing with the highest authority in the land, assured the people of the state that the issue would be resolved.

He stated that the entire development was suspect because the state government met all requirements for the approval in line with international standards.

“We were not told exactly what constituted security threats in this context. The people of Anambra State are disappointed, so does the government.

“Most Anambra people believed that this is politically motivated, especially now that the state is headed to the poll. We are studying the situation carefully and the governor is discussing this matter with the highest authority’s in the land,” Adinuba said.
