STAKEHOLDERS URGE INEC TO DEPLOY EFFICIENT ELECTRONIC GADGETS IN NOV 6 ANAMBRA GUBER POLL

As the date for the Anambra State Gubernatorial poll approaches, some stakeholders have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to ensure that efficient electronic gadgets are deployed in the conduct of the election to avoid hitches.

The stakeholders, who spoke with Radio Nigeria in Awka, were particularly happy with the approval by the National Assembly for the Electronic Transmission of Results by INEC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had revealed that Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would be used for the November 6, Anambra State Governorship Election.

This process will involve using BVAS to capture the fingerprint of the voter, authenticating the fingerprint and using the facial authentication of photo option, if the fingerprint fails.

Also, interesting is the approval given to INEC to transmit results electronically, if it desires.

The respondents averred that these methods were unique and in tune with modern trends: using technology to create solutions.

A public affairs analyst, Comrade Charles Nworah, urged INEC to employ gadgets that would offer the best results in the field.

Comrade Nworah, however, charged the commission to fortify the system against hacking to promote transparency.

The Chairman of Accord Party in Anambra State, Prince Bartho Igwedibia, said electronic transmission of results would add value to the electoral process.

Prince Igwedibia commended the National Assembly for seeing reason with the masses by approving the Electronic Transmission of results.

He also applauded INEC for overcoming the use of Card Readers to employ more efficient methods in conducting elections in the country.
