PERSONS WITH DISABILITY DEMAND MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN ABIA

The Abia State Deputy Governor, Mr. Ude Oko Chukwu, has assured Persons living with Disability in the State of the present administration’s resolve to equip them with necessary skills that will make them self reliant and employers of labour.

Mr. Oko Chukwu stated this when he received members of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disability, Abia State Chapter at Government House Umuahia.

He noted that equipping persons with disability with skills would not only make them to be useful members of the society, but also enable them to contribute their own quota in the development of the State.

The Deputy Governor applauded the efforts and contributions of the association towards moving the state forward and called on the private sector to assist goverment in making life more meaningful for Persons With Disability.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of persons with Disability, Mr. Eze Urasi, represented by the Secretary of the association, Mrs. Chinyere Ogboso, said they had the mandate to cater for the welfare of members with various disabilities and to contribute their quota to the development of the state and the country if given the right opportunity.

He lauded the Governor for being a leading actor in the inclusion, integration and participation of Persons With Disability in all the Socio Political and economic frameworks aimed at improving their welfare through appointments, sponsorship and rehabilitation of special education Centers.
