Okorocha effects minor cabinet reshuffle

Imo state g2016_06_15_93744overnor, Rochas Okorocha on Monday carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle involving the swap of three ministries.
According to a press statement issued from the office of the chief press secretary to the state governor, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, the Commissioner for Information, Strategy, Youths and Sports, Engineer Chidi Ibeh was moved to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Hon. Ifeanyi Ararume Junior who was in that ministry was moved to the Ministry of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and Internal Resources.
Former Commissioner for IGR, Chief Vitalis Ajumbe now mans the Ministry of Information, and Public Utility, while Hon. Rodney Ajaelu now takes charge in the ministry of youths, sports and public safety.
According to the statement, contrary to speculations that Governor Okorocha swapped the positions of the commissioners for non performance, it stated that the action was strategic to bring out the best in the commissioners.
“ They had all done well in their former ministries and the Governor in his wisdom believed that they could do better in their current portfolios.
The truth is that none of them was shifted for non-performance as being rumoured in some quarters. They have all been outstanding in the discharge of their responsibilities and the governor had had the feeling that they could do more in their new ministries”, part of the statement reads.
Meanwhile, Governor Okorocha has suspended all states functions following the scheduled re-run election for Okigwe senatorial zone (Imo north) and two other state constituencies on Saturday, while normal government activities begins next Monday, July 25, 2016.
