MR. TONY OLOFU ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE 31ST COMMISSIONER OF POLICE IN ANAMBRA STATE

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Usman Alkali Baba has deployed a new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command. He is Mr. Tony Olofu who hails from Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
Until his appointment, Mr. Olofu was the Director Operations and Intelligence, National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons at the office of the National Security Adviser, Abuja.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, indicates Mr. Olofu enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) on March 3, 1990 after completion of Traning at POLAC, Kano. The New Commissioner of Police has served as Commander 25 Police Mobile Training PMF Azumini; Divisional Police Officer, Garki, Abuja. He also served as an Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area Commander, Kubwa, Abuja Command; and Commander Operation Doo Akpo, Bayelsa State.
According to the statement, Mr. Okofu had further served as Deputy Commissioner of police Operations Ebonyi Sate. He was once a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bauchi State Command.
Mr. Okofu had additionally served as a Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit; and Commissioner of Police, Director Operations and Intelligence National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons at the Office of the National Security Adviser ONSA, Abuja before his depolyment as the 31st Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command.
Mr. Olofu, is said to have attended many professional and staff courses, including Advanced Detective Course in Jos; Squadron Command Course, Tactical Leadership & Command Course and Strategic Leadership & Command Course, Jos. He is also member of the Nigeria Contingent to Angola; Member Africa center for strategic studies, National defence University Arlington Virginia, USA; and Member International Chiefs of Police USA.
Meanwhile Radio Nigeria gathered that the immediate former Police Commissioner in Anambra State, Mr. Christ Owolabi, has been deployed to Abuja.
