INVESTIGATE ATTACK ON APGA GUBER CANDIDATE —EBONYI STATE GOVT TELLS POLICE

Ebonyi State Government has called on the Nigerian police to investigate an allegation of attempted assassination of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Governorship Candidate in the state, Professor Bernard Odo.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief Uchenna Orji and the government’s Security Consultant, Chief Stanley Okoroemegha, who doubles as the Ebonyi State, APC Chairman, stated this in joint press briefing on counter allegations that Ebubeagu Security Outfit masterminded the attack.

Reports indicate that the driver of the APGA Governorship candidate and one other person were among the victims when gunmen opened fire on his convoy at Rest House axis on the Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway.

Chief Orji, who described alleged responsibility of Ebubeagu in the said attack as unimaginable, emphasised that the outfit was established to secure lives and property and not to attack innocent people.

The security Consultant, Chief Emegha claimed that the APGA Guber candidate was using the allegation to gain cheap political relevance, emphasising that so many breaches had happened against government officials without looking at the opposition as the culprit.
