IMO STATE GOVT LAUNCHES FREE TRANSPORT SERVICE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has launched a free mass transit intra state transport system for the state civil servants. Also launched is a health initiative known as health at your door step with five well equipped mobile clinic ambulance to enhance health care delivery in the state.

The Heroes Square Owerri, venue of the event, was filled to capacity by civil servants who could not hide their excitement because of the direct benefit the free mass transportation system would afford them. Governor Hope Uzodinma in a message stressed that the gesture would help improve the welfare of the civil servants, which would in turn enhance productivity and revenue generation of the state. He said his administration was committed in its desire to make Imo a prosperous state, noting that the delay in salaries was as a result of fraud found in payroll system.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the State Commissioner for Transport, Chief Rex Anunobi and her counterpart in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Damaris Osunkwo, said the buses would improve service delivery while the mobile clinic would reach out to poor and vulnerable people in the rural areas with the help of qualified doctors and nurses.

In appreciation, the Head of Service, Dr. Chibuzor Iwuagwu, thanked the Governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to workers since assumption of office. He further said that the training recently embarked by the workers was to equip them with the role and knowledge of civil service.

The event also witnessed the distribution of over 100 official vehicles to commissioners and other political appointees in the state by the Governor.
