IMO STATE GOVERNMENT REFUTES ALLEGED ATTACK ON GOV. UZODINMA IN OHAJI EGBEMA

Imo State Government has debunked the rumor making rounds that the Governor Hope Uzodinma was attacked in Mmahu Community of Ohaji Egbema Area.

In a statement the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Oguwike Nwachuku, noted that such lies could only emanate from an opposition who sees nothing good in the state.

According to Nwachukwu, Governor Hope Uzodinma was at Mmahu area of Ohaji Egbema to sympathize with the community that lost their kinsmen on Friday following an accident that involved a truck belonging to an oil firm operating in the area

He explained that the Governor visited the area in the company of security agencies to reassure the community of his willingness to secure their lives and property, as well as to draw a programme for the families of the deceased.

The Chief Press Secretary stressed that while the Governor was addressing the families, some boys among the aggrieved youths made noise outside, accusing security operatives of supporting the oil companies and demanding that governor should also address them.

He said while the security operatives were controlling the noise, one of the youths allegedly threw stones at one of the official cars of the Governor where they parked and in the process smashed the back glass.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, a youth, Mr. Uzochukwu Chukwukere, who is Vice Chairman of Egbema Youth Wing, have been arrested for damaging the windscreen of the vehicles.

Mr. Nwachukwu said that the meeting the Governor had with the community inside the Palace of the traditional ruler was successful while the families of the deceased were happy.
