IMO GOVT BEGINS REHABILITATION OF OWERRI/MBAISE RD, ORDERS CLEARING OF DRAINS

REPORTER: CHUKWUKA AGUKWE

Imo State Government says it has commenced the reconstruction of Owerri/Mbaise Road.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Declan Emelumba, announced this to journalists at the end of state Executive Council Meeting presided by Governor Hope Uzodimma.

He said the earth work had already started from Fire Service Junction leading to Mbaise and would soon commence Enyiogugu/Obowo to Seven and Half Roads.

According to the Information Commisioner, the government has directed the landlords and caretakers in the state to quickly open up their drainage in the frontage of their buildings to ease water flow.

He warned those in the habit of blocking drainage with dirt to desist from the act or have themselves blamed if caught.

The Commissioner expressed displeasure with the encroachment and destruction of government facilities that took the administration fortunes to build.

Mr. Emelumba, however, invited the citizens to the celebration of this year’s Independence Anniversary holding at Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kalu Square Owerri.

He directed the Sole Administrators in all the councils to mobilize their people at their localities.
