GUNMEN ATTACK NKPORO POLICE STATION IN ABIA STATE

Reporter : LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

Police in Abia State have confirmed an attempted attack on one of its station at Nkporo in Ohafia Local Government Area by yet to be identified hoodlums.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna said the station was not burnt but rather suspected hoodlums hibernating around the community took advantage of a down pour to carryout their nefarious attack on the police facility.

According to the PPRO, the officers on duty repelled the attack, which led to the hoodlums burning one of the police motorcycles and carted away two other motorcycles parked at the station.

He noted that no life was lost and that investigation into the incident had commenced.

Mr. Ogbonna urged members of the public not to relent in providing credible information that would assist security agencies in nipping crime in the bud.
