REPORTER: UZOMA NWANKWO

Residents of Uhabiri Umuchime Na Amanso community, Ossah Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia State have appealed to the state government to intervene in the gully erosion ravaging the area.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, a community leader, Mr. Chuks Nwachukwu, explained that the leadership of the community had met to chat a way forward for the people and to look at the challenges confronting them.

He noted that the major issue was the devastating erosion site in the area, which had cut off some parts of the community and pleaded with the state government to urgently fulfil its promise of addressing the menace.

For his part, the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Iheanyichukwu Ezeigbo, said the road affected by the erosion leads to three major housing estates in the city, pointing out that the gully had become a nightmare to residents of area.

They called on the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, to extend his good works to the community.

In an interview, the Acting President General of the community, Mr. Jude Nwoke noted that far reaching decisions had been taken and expressed the hope that with proper implementation, challenges facing the people would be addressed.
