GOV UMAHI BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF TWO MORE FLYOVER

Ebonyi State Government has embarked on the construction of two flyovers on Abakaliki -Afikpo Federal Highway at the cost of two point six billion Naira. Governor David Umahi stated this at the ground breaking ceremony for one of the projects at Hausa Quarters Junction Abakaliki.

Governor Umahi noted that the second one would be sited after Timber Shade on the same Abakaliki-Afikpo Federal Highway to reduce incessant crashes at the spot.

He said the two flyovers would be named after the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, the Most Reverend Nnachi Okoro, as he bows out of service. Chief Umahi noted that two other flyovers would be sited at Vanco and Water Works junctions. The Governor called for downward review of cost of flyover project in Nigeria as it is the costliest across the world.

Bishop Okoro, who performed the project ground breaking, thanked the Ebonyi State Government for the honour and prayed that the project would help in saving lives on the highway.
